Where It All Began

My name is Meg. I started Den of Positivity as a hashtag on Facebook after I tore my all three of my hamstring tendons while playing in a soccer game with my daughter.

These posts started as journal entries that I shared to a Facebook group, “Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy and Avulsion.” I was couch bound for weeks and spent some of that time posting in this group about my pain, fear, and grief.

I infused a lot of my posts with humor, because it’s my way, and because I saw that the laughs were helping not just me but others, too. The connection and community we created in comment conversations were the most healing part of my recovery. I learned that daily writing in a shared space can shift my perspective from despair to allowance to gratitude – facilitating my healing.

As I continued my healing journey, I realized I wanted to continue looking for the positives in the people and situations all around me. As I grew stronger, Den of Positivity grew with me.
