Anyone want to help me write the email I ought to send to my PT about how, after a really successful week of building my walking stamina at the track, I put my foot through my son’s backpack strap and nearly fell on my face…? I just can’t even…
I just tripped over my son’s backpack in the hallway. One foot got caught in the strap and I stumbled forward onto the other foot. I think I’m okay, but my hams & adductors are hurting, I’m scared as fuck, and in these ten seconds I cannot take this bullshit anymore.
“I had a fall…and it woke up a number of impairments in my body that I’d obviously been adapting to and fine with… You *can* be well if you’re not *moving* well. …Wellness doesn’t mean that you don’t have physical challenges.”

First day back training clients since my early November injury! I’m opening the gym at 5:30am. Five-hour shift on my feet. Wonder Hamster powers… activate!

I know. Me, too. Hard to keep your metabolism high & burnin’ when you can’t lift heavy weights or run intervals. I love what the folks at Precision Nutrition do for education & coaching, especially their infographics that pack solutions into one-page visuals. Their portion guide won’t solve all our issues around cravings and emotional eating, but see if their guidelines here can get you back on a better eating track.

1/2 mile Sunday & Monday, 3/4 mile Tuesday, 1 mile Wednesday. Just keep swimming.
(The sun broke through the clouds & fog at the end of my walk as I lay on the ground to – gently! – stretch my hams.)

I saw Dr. Price on 4/4 for my 4 month PO check-up. “I know you’re worried you’re not where you should be in the rehab protocol,” he said, “Especially comparing yourself to others on the Facebook page. But know that you’re doing great. You’re right where I want you to be.” Felt really good to hear that. Also got a new Rx for PT for my shoulder issue, and Price cleared me to go back to training clients at the gym. My first day will be Friday the 13th.
So with some renewed energy & positivity, I went to the high school track this morning to build some walking endurance. My PT exercises are progressing well, but I still get exhausted and achy after walking only a little. 2 laps took me 15 minutes. That’s 1/2 mile in a quarter of an hour, or a 30-minute mile. Oy vey. Baby steps. I’ll go back every day and try to walk a tiny bit further. I got this.
One of the better-written & acted Disney movies for tv (and originally a great YA book by Mark Peter Hughes), Lemonade Mouth had me thinking of Hamsters this morning.
