  • 1/25/20: Better-Feeling Thoughts

Keep reaching for a better-feeling thought. Deliberately & consistently guide your thoughts to those things that feel good or better than what you’re currently feeling. (Scoffin’ a little..? Did you try it yet?)

  • 1/18/20: Every Single Sports Interview

NFL, NBA, and MLB games bring the four of us together in front of the TV better than most any other show, and for that I am grateful. AND, this is hilarious.

  • 1/8/20: Mindfulness Bell

…Yeah, I forgot, too. Just start it up again. In for 6, hold for 6, out for 6. Twice. Every half hour. Off you go.

  • 1/1/20: Thomas Meyers: Why Does Massage Hurt?

Thomas Meyers’ words at the end of this video do a lovely job explaining why I work as a personal trainer: “…Although we think of this century as the most violent…we *are* becoming a more peaceful society as time goes on. Part of that [process] is to take the collective pain that we have *inside* and bring it outside. Body movement – manual therapy, strange kinds of exercises – these are things that not only work on a personal level, they start to work on a collective level…and I really do believe that the job of personal trainers is to lessen the collective pain of humanity by getting some of that stuff *out*. ”

If the new year has you seeking better health, well-being, and accountability, know that **the person or community that gives you hope and trust and faith in the process of your transformation** helps you with your *emotional* journey, and is therefore the most powerful healer and coach.

It’s never just about your muscles, and it’s never just about the food.

Take time with your search. Choose the person or place that gives you BOTH an engaging, researched-based workout, AND somehow helps you go through your stuff, offering a space to express and release your emotions.

Maybe it’s the chat you have in the front lobby with someone in your group exercise class, maybe it’s the text conversation you have with your trainer the evening after a difficult workout, or when you sit to discuss your meal plan. Maybe the owner of your gym points you towards an awesome new book or podcast or therapist or group or community center.

Choose the one that gives you permission to step into your own, authentic confidence and empowered freedom. It’s not just exercise. It’s YOU.

  • 12/29/19: Nervousness

Feeling nervous is not wrong. It’s the recognition that you’re feeling fear in order to let it go, and that an expansive opportunity is on your doorstep. Pre-nerves are a really good indicator that what I’ve chosen to do is going to be *awesome*. Not always comfortable… but awesomely expansive.

  • 12/23/19: Swearing All the Way

I couldn’t resist the cute puppy bum. And much of my recovery was “swearing all the way, ha-ha-ha…”
